QUANTUM MECHANICS HAND WRITTEN NOTE

This book is written supported lecture notes covering 3 to four semesters of graduate courses in quantum physics. The author sets out by explaining the physical ideas of quantum physics, then goes on to explain the mathematical formalism and gift illustrative samples of the ideas and methods that serve to amplify points mentioned within the text. Exercises, with solutions, are included.

The chapters don’t seem to be freelance, however depend upon each other. Subjects vary from the failures of classical theory to second quantisation, together with chapters on the Dirac theory and Richard Phillips Feynman diagrams. The book is meant to be used as a graduate level text further as a reference. These notes cover the essential core topics of a standard graduate quantum mechanics course. The main text used for the class was Shankar, with Sakurai as a secondary text. I also adapted material from Landau, Baym and Messiah. The first lectures here review undergraduate quantum and modern physics as a reminder, this optional material was only covered briefly in class. Towards the end of the course, I added lectures on the Dirac equation, the Berry phase and graphene, not included here. I may upload them later.

BOOK INFO

BOOK NAME – QUANTUM MECHANICS HAND WRITTEN NOTE

AUTHOR – CLASS NOTE

SIZE – 43.6MB

PAGES – 144

The intended purpose of these lecture notes is not in any way to attempt to provide in-depth discussions or any new insight on quantum mechanics but to provide beginners a quick crash course on basic ideas and techniques of quantum mechanics so readers can advance more easily by filling in gaps with more in-depth knowledge from currently existing so many wonderful books on quantum mechanics.

These lecture notes should be accessible by undergraduate students of mathematics or physics who have taken linear algebra and partial differential equations. While some information of (matrix Lie) pure mathematics is important to check quantum physics, I don’t need readers to possess previous information of it so as to follow the lecture notes. No prior knowledge of some basic physics other than college freshman physics is required either although if you have taken undergraduate classical mechanics and electromagnetism, it will surely help.
